All 100 One Piece Manga Volumes Sell 1 Million Copies

One Piece reached 1 million copies of its manga sold each, according to the Oricon Weekly Comic Ranking. This means that all 100 volumes of Eiichiro Oda’s hugely popular shonen manga have either hit or surpassed the million-copy sold milestone. In the same period, the 12th volume of One Piece Magazine, which prints information on the series, ranked first with 42,000 copies sold. [Thanks, Orion!]

Starting in 2008, when One Piece‘s rankings were first tracked by Oricon, its 50 volumes have ranked first place every single year. To date, the One Piece 1 million milestone marks the only manga series that has achieved this feat. And the manga’s popularity extends beyond Japan. As of July 2024, it has 490 million copies in circulation globally. It’s currently the best-selling manga in history.

Volume 100 of One Piece released on September 3, 2024. There have been numerous projects coming out to celebrate the milestone. They include a crossover between Shueisha (One Piece‘s publisher) and JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency), as well a series of short animated films. There’s also a video comic of Monsters, which was Oda’s previous work. Earlier this year, Shueisha released the series’ 1000th chapter.

Netflix is developing a live-action series based on the manga. Though not much has been revealed yet, “Romance Dawn” will be the first episode’s title. Matt Owens and Steven Maeda are the listed authors for the script.
