American Horror Story: Double Feature teaser trailer brings back aliens

Ever since American Horror Story: Asylum’s alien abduction plotline, fans have been clamoring to see the extraterrestrials return. Though each season of AHS is a separate self-contained story (well, except for crossover feast AHS: Apocalypse), certain characters and creatures — like ghosts and witches — have appeared throughout the show. Except for the aliens, mentioned in season 2, only to never appear again …

’Til now! They’re back! For a whole season! Well, for half a season.

This season of American Horror Story — aptly called Double Feature — will juggle two separate plotlines. Part 1, titled Red Tide, appears to focus on some sort of sea monster that looks like a razor-toothed mercreature. The second part, titled Death Valley, moves the location to the desert and highlights aliens. This new teaser also reveals some ocean waves on a beach, a meat violin (??), and also, the alien and mer-thing making out! Good for them.

Again, it appears that the two stories will be separate, but threads of one could certainly appear in the other, so alien-mermaid shipping potential remains unknown. What there will be, though, according to creator Ryan Murphy, is “crazy, erotic sex” for Macaulay Culkin and Kathy Bates.

American Horror Story: Double Feature premieres on FX on Aug. 25, and will be available to stream on FX on Hulu the next day. Culkin and Bates will be joined by Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe, Evan Peters, Billie Lourd, Finn Wittrock, Adina Porter, Angelica Ross, and Leslie Grossman.
