HBO has recruited another actress for its big-budget TV adaptation of The Last of Us, with the latest pick-up being Anna Torv as Tess. She is perhaps best known for her role in Fringe as Olivia Dunham, but has also appeared in more recent television shows such as Secret City, Mindhunter, and The Newsreader. Hitting much closer to home would be her role in PlayStation 3 exclusive Heavenly Sword, where she voiced protagonist Nariko. Torv will be a “recurring guest star”.
Of course, the actress joins what is starting to look like a heavyweight cast. We have Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey playing the role of Ellie. Then there’s Gabriel Luna as Tommy, Merle Dandridge reprising her role as Marlene, and Nico Parker as Sarah. Rounding out the cast, for now, is Con O’Neill as Bill, Murray Bartlett plays Bill’s partner Frank, and Jeffrey Pierce joining as what appears to be a new character named Perry. In other news, the show itself is said to exceed the “eight-figure per episode mark”, with shooting now underway.
