Best B550 motherboard | PC Gamer

The best B550 motherboard is one of the best ways to compliment your AMD Ryzen 5000 CPU. While the X570 chipset is technically superior, you’d be hard pressed to tell the difference between one of those and any of the B550 boards listed below in action. That means you can expect swathes of USB ports, M.2 slots aplenty, and often even integrated Wi-Fi.

With many of the best gaming CPUs arriving from AMD’s camp this time around, we’ve been keen to put as many AM4 compatible motherboards as we can to the test. We’ve looked at B550 motherboards from ASRock, Asus, and MSI to try and narrow down which one is most worthy of your hard-earned cash.

And don’t be mistaken. Many B550 motherboards can happily power your AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, and the best B550 motherboards will even comfortably support the mighty AMD Ryzen 9 5950X. Even PCIe 4.0 support has made the switch from the top X570 chipset to here, although it is a little more limited with just a few PCIe slots and space for an NVMe SSD.
