Best PS4 Single Player Story Games
Below is a full list of the best PS4 single player story games. All of these games can be played excel when played solo, and have rich narratives that will keep you hooked from start-to-finish.
30. Until Dawn
Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment / Developer: Supermassive Games
Schlock horror is the order of the day in Until Dawn, a surprise hit with a contemptible cast of teenagers who you can enjoy being gruesomely picked off one by one. The game twists and turns over the course of its ten hour runtime, and prior to Detroit: Become Human, it was the most malleable interactive drama you could buy. Campy acting paired with a laugh-out-loud script make this a must-play – even if the performance capture looks a little dated now.
29. Days Gone
For a title that borrows so liberally from gaming’s biggest trendsetters, Days Gone’s biker-themed post-apocalyptic backdrop is surprisingly original. The tattooed bravado may not be to everyone’s tastes, but as a predictable popcorn flick, there’s a lot to like about Sony Bend’s cast of leather-clad survivors. With multiple plot threads all revolving around an engaging nucleus, you won’t want to leave Oregon once you’ve got a taste for the blood and ink.

28. Celeste
Publisher: Extremely OK Games / Developer: Extremely OK Games
You never expect much in terms of storytelling from a twitchy side-scrolling platformer, but Celeste bucks the trend with a surprisingly strong tale. Madeline’s aim is to conquer Mount Celeste, but her inner demons are holding her back. With support from a charming cast of characters, her journey is an uplifting one that manages to tackle some important subjects. It’s a simple yet effective story that doesn’t outstay its welcome.
27. Detroit: Become Human
Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment / Developer: Quantic Dream
While so many interactive dramas cheat, Detroit: Become Human is the most adaptable narrative ever conceived. Lead characters can die in the opening hours of the story, and that’s the last you’ll see of them for the remainder of the campaign. The robotic revolution plotline can be a bit heavy-handed, but as with all Quantic Dream games, there are some real high-points that will stick with you long after the credits roll.
26. Life Is Strange: Before the Storm
Publisher: Square Enix / Developer: Deck Nine Games
A prequel from a different developer: what could possibly go wrong? Well, in the case of Life Is Strange: Before the Storm, not a whole lot. While the game works from DONTNOD’s blueprint, developer Deck Nine constructed a spin-off story that’s arguably more consistent than the Parisian studio’s original. Protagonist Chloe’s whirlwind romance with Rachel Amber is poignant, and while the season is hurried to a conclusion, it’s lovely while it lasts.
