Boyfriend Dungeon Content Warning Will Be Updated

Kitfox Games issued a Tweet in regards to the content warning for Boyfriend Dungeon, stating that the develop will update it this week to better describe the stalking and emotional manipulation that happens in the game. The character in question is a main antagonist and players cannot avoid him, which inaccurately reflects the current warning.

Right now, when you start up Boyfriend Dungeon, the content warning reads, “This game may include references to unwanted advances, stalking, and other forms of emotional manipulation. Play with care.” The usage of the word “may” gives the impression that the stalking and emotional manipulation are optional. However, there is no way to block the stalker in-game, which means players cannot turn off his messages even if they are upsetting.

In a similar vein, the game has an option to block messages from the protagonist’s mother. Though the mother character is a kind and encouraging figure in the game, there is the chance that players may find the texts throughout the game triggering. Thus, Kitfox Games included the option to turn off messages from her.

Boyfriend Dungeon is a dungeon crawler with dating-sim aspects. The protagonist can date the various weapons they have and though the word “boyfriend” is in the title, weapons can be any species and gender. It was originally a Kickstarter project and it came out recently on August 11, 2024.

Boyfriend Dungeon is available on the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Windows PC, and Kitfox Games will update the content warning to better reflect the game this week.
