Capcom reveals Monster Hunter Stories 2 post-launch roadmap through October

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is dropping in a week, and since it’s a Monster Hunter game, people are going to probably be playing it to death for months or years to come. As Capcom is aware, it has prepped a Monster Hunter Stories 2 roadmap for post-release content that should do something to keep the throngs of hunters invested long after they’ve exhausted the game’s base content. The game’s first post-launch update had already been revealed via press release, with the Palamute monster the first thing to be added on July 15. And they’ll be both ridable and usable in combat.

While that’s all well and good, there will be five additional updates coming to Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin by October of this year. The game’s second update will drop on August 5, and will add Kulve Taroth, plus a new online co-op mission. Kulve Taroth, however, will not be ridable; you can only fight it. That still means you’ll be able to craft new gear from its drops, however. The update will include two new monsties, however, with Hellblade Glavenus and Boltreaver Astalos joining your rider. Update 3 will come a month later in early September, with Oroshi Kirin, Soulseer Mizutsune, and Elderfrost Gammoth being added as new monsties.

The fourth Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin update will then show up in late September, with Dreadking Ratholos and Molten Tyrex joining the monstie fray. This update also adds an additional Kulve Taroth co-op quest with even higher difficulty. Finally, the fifth update will drop in October, with Silver Rathalos and Gold Rathian, plus a mystery monster that can be fought in yet another high difficulty co-op quest. The game will also receive a free trial version on PC on July 9, so it’ll be available to try out for anyone who wants to see how the turn-based combat and egg collection strikes their fancy.
