Cowboy Bebop: Netflix release date, first John Cho’s Spike photos revealed

After teasing fans with a behind-the-scenes look of the Cowboy Bebop cast in costume, Netflix has released its first official images of the live-action anime remake. The first-look photos spotlight John Cho’s Spike Spiegal and the crew of the Bebop, with every design looking pretty faithful to the original anime.

The star of the photos, and the show, is definitely Spike. Cho dawns the signature purple and yellow suit and Spike’s classic huge and messy hair, posing with his Bebop crewmates. We also get a picture of Spike walking out of a church, which is a nice tease for fans of one of the anime’s most iconic moments.

The photo set also shows off the looks of the live-action version’s Fay Valentine, played by Daniella Pineda (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom), Jet Black, played by Mustafa Shakir (Luke Cage), and Ein, the Bebop’s canine crewmate.

Along with these stars, the show will also feature Alex Hassell (Anonymous) as Vicious and Elena Satine (Twin Peaks: The Return) as Julia. Cowboy Bebop’s live-action adaptation is created by André Nemec and Jeff Pinkner, who have previously worked together on several shows including Alias. The series will be directed by Alex Garcia Lopez (Daredevil), and Michael Katleman (Primevil). The series will also see the return of Yoko Kanno, the original composer of the anime.

Cowboy Bebop is set to debut on Netflix on Nov. 19.
