Cyberpunk 2077 returns to PlayStation Store next week

Sony warns that base PS4 edition of the game will still have problems, recommends playing on PS4 Pro or PS5 instead

Sony will allow CD Projekt to sell Cyberpunk 2077 through the PlayStation Store again starting next week, the developer announced today.

Despite that, Sony is warning standard PlayStation 4 owners that this doesn’t mean the game is “fixed” for them.

“Users will continue to experience performance issues with the PS4 edition while CD Projekt Red continues to improve stability across all platforms,” a Sony Interactive Entertainment representative told IGN. “SIE recommends playing the title on PS4 Pro or PS5 for the best experience.”

Cyberpunk 2077 launched in December, but after console users reported a slew of bugs, performance problems, and crashing issues, CD Projekt apologized for the state of the game and offered refunds, while Sony decided to remove the game from its online storefront entirely.

The heavily pre-ordered game sold 13 million copies in the first 10 days following its December 10 launch, but continuing sales were poor enough that CD Projekt Red reported revenues up just 2% for the first three months of 2024, citing a tough comparison against the first quarter of 2024, when results were driven by the months old Switch port of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and general interest in that franchise thanks to Netflix’s Witcher show based on the same novels.
