Digimon Ghost Game Anime Airs in October 2024

Digimon Ghost Game, a new anime series from Toei Animation, will air on October 3, 2024 in Japan. The news comes courtesy of an update to the show’s official website that contained new info about the premise and characters.

The Digimon Ghost Game update was also accompanied by promotional tweets featuring the show’s key visual.

The image depicts the core cast of Digimon Ghost Game. This includes a levelheaded Hiro Amanokawa and Gammamon, the social butterly Ruri Tsukiyono and Angoramon, and the genius graduate Kiyoshiro Higashimitarai and Jellymon.

Digimon Ghost Game was first revealed in August 2024. According to the official website, the show takes place in the near future. There, rumors abound on social media bout mysterious “hologram ghosts”. First-year junior high student Hiro inherits a mysterious “Digivice” from his father, and in doing so becomes capable of perceiving Digimon. Hiro and his pals must then journey on the unseen side of the world to investigate and end the threat hologram ghosts pose.

The announcement also included voice casting information for Digimon Ghost Game. Hiro will be voiced by Mutsumi Tamura, who also plays Koshiro Izumi in the Digimon Adventure tri. films and Kobayashi in Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid. The Gammamon voice actor is Miyuki Sawashiro, who also voiced Mordred in Fate/Apocrypha and Katalina from Granblue Fantasy. Yu Kobayashi, who also played Ruka in Steins;Gate and Attack on Titan‘s Sasha, is voicing Ruri. Angoramon’s voice is Kazuya Nakai, who plays God Eater‘s Soma and One Piece‘s Roronoa Zoro. Akira Ishida, who voiced Gaara in Naruto and Evangelion‘s Kaworu, is the voice of Kiyoshiro. Finally, Jellymon’s actor is Yu Shimamura, who played Attack on Titan‘s Annie and is the Japanese voice of Zelda in Breath of the Wild and Skyward Sword.

Digimon Ghost Game will premiere on October 3, 2024 in Japan. No international licensing has been announced.
