Fresh Bites gets a release date for September

If the recent re-releases of the first couple of BloodRayne games told us anything, it’s that the people who hold the rights to the series are serious about continuing to make bank off of it, despite the total lack of new games. The original released a decade ago, before showing up on PC two and a half years later. Now, WayForward Technologies’ side-scrolling slice ’em up is coming back to suck again with BloodRayne Betrayal: Fresh Bites. Great subtitle there, guys. BloodRayne Betrayal: Fresh Bites will release on PC the same date it hits consoles, so at least we don’t have to wait years extra this time.

If you’re wondering if BloodRayne Betrayal: Fresh Bites features improvements over the original game flow and controls for modern audiences, well, it doesn’t. The game has some changes, but it’s mostly going to be the same as the original version. The biggest change is that voice acting is coming to the game, with series star and incredible industry titan Laura Bailey returning to voice Rayne. Kagan is also voiced by a small-time actor you’ve probably never heard of, Troy Baker. I think he was an announcer in one of the Dirt games or something.

In addition to all of the Laura Bailey-voiced goodness, BloodRayne Betrayal: Fresh Bites will also feature higher-resolution sprites that’ll look nicer at 4K and the like. And, uh, that’s it. Voice acting and better graphics. Maybe. Although, the game’s Steam page does mention that the gameplay has been rebalanced, there’s no information on what that means exactly. If you already own the PC version of the game, that might be a hard sell, unless you’re a big Laura Bailey fan or something. You may very well be though, as she’s wonderful. I certainly wouldn’t hold it against you.

The game releases on September 9, although you can still buy the original version of Steam. For now, at least. Wonder how long that’ll stay up.
