Welcome to PocketGamers’ detailed Genshin Impact Traveler Geo guide! Aether or Lumine, depending on whether you chose the male or female sibling, are from another world and attacked by an Unknown God. Facing insurmountable odds against this powerful being, they are whisked away and trapped in the land known as Teyvat. Soon after, you meet up with your essential, if a bit rude, travel companion Paimon, and she helps you get your bearings in this new world.
In the guide below you will find the following features:
Traveler (Geo) Appearance
Character Element / Tier / Rarity / Weapon
Geo / C Tier / 5* Rarity / Sword
The Traveler begins the game without an elemental alignment, but after using the first Statue of the Seven in Mondstadt, they receive their Anemo powers. Beyond that, if the Traveler visits a Statue of the Seven in Liyue, they can imbue themselves with Geo powers instead.
How to get Traveler (Geo)?
The Traveler is the character you begin the game with and is not featured in any wishes.
Combat Info
Strengths
- You can use Traveler’s Elemental Skill “Starfall Sword” to summon a pillar for bow or catalyst users to stand on, which will allow them to fire away at enemies while out of reach.
- Traveler’s Elemental Burst can create a stone wall that will block incoming damage.
Weaknesses
- A lot of times your skill can block your teammates’ attacks and visibility.
- Not a relatively strong DPS character.
Best Build
It’s best to pair the Traveler with the Skyward Blade and Archaic Petra artifacts, as it will embolden their Geo damage. The damage is decent enough and the buff from a level 1 Constellation adds to the party’s crit rates and helps them resist interruption.

Best Party Members to match with
Premium (Gacha) Team
While the Traveler can fit into nearly any team with a relatively versatile Element and skill set, their primary function in a team is to use their Elemental Skill and Burst to deliver maximum Geo damage. Traveler is best paired with Zhongli as a secondary DPS, as Zhongli can expand Traveler’s Geo damage with structure and their resonance can also expand the effectiveness of Zhongli’s jade shield. Xiao can serve as the primary DPS, and with Zhongli’s shield, he can get some serious damage in. Bennett is useful as a support to provide some additional damage buffs with his Burst and provide health regen.
F2P Team
The Geo form of the Traveler is best paired with Noelle for primary DPS, Kaeya as a secondary DPS, and Barbara as a Support character. This allows Noelle to tank and do what she does best – spin wildly with her claymore, as Traveler can boost Geo resonance when using their shield. Using Barbara’s Hydro powers allows you to then follow up with Kaeya to freeze enemies for maximum DPS.
