The stadium from cult classic Kevin Costner sports romp Field of Dreams has been added to MLB The Show 21, as the New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox get ready to take to the Iowa field in real life later this week. For those of you who don’t know, the 1989 movie casts Costner as farmer Ray Kinsella, who hears voices encouraging him to cut down his corn so that he can build a backyard diamond instead.
While the original field from the movie set remains, the MLB has constructed a full-size replica down the road. This has the dimensions of a professional baseball field, as well as capacity for up to 8,000 fans, while still retaining the iconic crop backdrop. After a year delay due to coronavirus, the Yankees and White Sox will take to the Dyersville field this week, as both teams push for the playoffs.
You can find the ballpark listed under Classic stadiums in MLB The Show 21, but Sony San Diego is marking the occasion with a bunch of celebratory content in Diamond Dynasty, including a Program, Conquest map, Showdown, Choice Pack, and more. The game’s also discounted on the PS Store right now, while Stubs can be purchased at a reduced rate. Don’t forget, if you’re just getting into the game, then you can learn more about it in our MLB The Show 21 guide.
