Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is finally getting a follow-up, but probably not in the form you think. On Tuesday, Disney announced the voice cast for Lego Star Wars Terrifying Tales, an animated Halloween special that will pick up after the last movie in the Skywalker Saga — but it won’t necessarily be canon.
The movie will take place on Mustafar, according to Disney’s announcement, in one of the Star Wars universe’s most mysterious and creepy locations: Darth Vader’s castle. The story will follow Poe Dameron (Jake Green) and BB-8 as the pair make an emergency landing on Vader’s planet, shortly after the events of Rise of Skywalker. Once they arrive, they meet a Hutt named Graballa (Dana Snyder), who’s turning the Sith Lord’s castle into a tourist attraction and hotel. But, it turns out, many on the planet still serve the Sith and await their return.
One such character is Vaneé (Tony Hale), who gives Poe, BB-8, Graballa, and a new character named Dean (Raphael Alejandro) a tour of Vader’s castle. During the tour, Vaneé tells three different creepy stories about the Star Wars universe that involve famous Sith artifacts and mythical figures of the force.
Of course, any new Star Wars content always brings up everyone’s favorite question: is it canon? In this case, the answer is probably not. Lego has partnered with Disney for several series set in the Star Wars universe and almost none of them have been verified as canon. But the fact that we don’t know for sure means that it’s still possible Vaneé and his spooky stories could be a part of Poe’s canonical journey.
Lego Star Wars Terrifying Tales Halloween special will debut on Disney Plus on Oct. 1.
