Microsoft Flight Simulator Chicago Midway & Mexico City Airports Announced; F-16, Beaver, & Nanki-Shirahama Get New WIP Screenshots

The weekend doesn’t matter in Microsoft Flight Simulator, as third-party developers never stop providing news and releases of add-ons for the popular sim.

We start with Drzewiecki Design, who announced Chicago Midway International Airport (KMDW) with a series of images. While the airport’s name was not explicitly mentioned, the tower and the cityscape are pretty much unmistakable.

Incidentally, Drzewiecki Design also released a package for the city itself, so expanding to one of its airports certainly makes sense.

You can find the new images below.

Next is FlyMex, which is going big with Mexico City International Airport (MMMX).

As the busiest airport in the country and in Latin America as a whole, it’s certainly an addition to the sim with great potential.

The announcement was made with a trailer, which you can see below.

We then get to see a single work-in-progress screenshot for SC DesignsF-16C Fighting Falcon, which saw progress in the cockpit.

More screenshots come from Military Visualizations showing the WIP interior night lighting of their de Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver.

We also get to enjoy more WIP images of Gate15Scenery’s Nanki–Shirahama Airport (RJBD) in Japan.

Moving on to releases, PhotoSimLabs launched its St. Croix, United States Virgin Islands, including Henry E. Rohlsen Airport (TISX) and scenery for the islands.

You can find it at the developer’s own store priced at $20.99 and read a list of features below.

  • Complete coverage of The entire Island of St. Croix and Buck Island, more than 210 square kilometers.
  • Highly accurate and extensive rendition of the main town of Frederiksted, with custom made buildings along the main street and surroundings, including Fort Frederik, and the cruise ship terminal and pier.
  • Full rendition of the town of Christiansted, including the famous seaplane base, ready for those wanting to try their hand at flying a seaplane into Christiansted harbor.
  • A full and accurate rendition of the refinery area next to the airport.
  • Full and accurate rendition of the Cruzan rum distillery.
  • Custom 3D buildings throughout the entire island, including churches, shopping centers, the island jail, and more.

SimNord also released Aalborg Airport (EKYT) in North Jutland, Denmark.

At the moment, the airport is only available on the official marketplace within Microsoft Flight Simulator for €16.99.

“SimNord EKYT Aalborg Airport is a highly detailed and realistic rendition of Aalborg Airport (EKYT, AAL), Denmark’s third largest airport, situated 6 km from the centre of Aalborg in North Jutland. The airport is a dual-use military and civil airport with scheduled flights to Copenhagen, Oslo, Amsterdam, Faroe Islands, Barcelona, London and other European cities as well as many charter destinations. Aalborg Air Base (Flyvestation Aalborg) is home to Royal Danish Air Force (RDAF) 721 Squadron, Air Transport Wing Aalborg. EKYT Aalborg Airport for MSFS is available for purchase at MSFS Marketplace.”

Yesterday, we published our brand new and massive interview with head of Microsoft Flight Simulator Jorg Neumann, focusing on the Xbox version and short and long-term plans for the sim (on both platforms).
