NEO TWEWY x Field Walk RPG Augmented Reality Event Announced

NEO: The World Ends With You is getting a limited-time Augmented Reality (AR) event. The NEO TWEWY x Field Walk RPG experience will take place in the real-life version of Shibuya in Tokyo. It’ll allow participants to experience a “Real Shibuya RPG” that uses phone-based AR tech and is themed after NEO: The World Ends With You.

According to the official website, the NEO TWEWY x Field Walk RPG event is inspired by NEO: The World Ends With You and its heavy use of real-life locations in and around Shibuya. It will take place from September 3, 2024, run until November 3, 2024, and is open to participants who purchase a ticket. Upon leaving the Shibuya train station, players will get themselves involved in their own Reaper Game and use their smartphone cameras and AR technology to interact with characters from the game like Rindo, Fret, Nagi, and Sho. The voice cast will also reprise their roles from the game. Players will team up with the cast to solve mysteries, find items hidden around the city, and even fight enemies in battles.

All in all, seventeen different locations and businesses around Shibuya station are involved in the NEO TWEWY x Field Walk RPG experience. These range from iconic spots like the “Hachiko” dog statue to active buildings like the Shibuya 109 Department Store. Participants will also receive an exclusive pin badge with an illustration by character designer Gen Kobayashi.

The NEO TWEWY x Field Walk RPG experience opens on September 3, 2024 and continues until November 3, 2024. Tickets cost about JPY 3,300 (about USD $30), and can be obtained from the official website.
