Square Enix has released a new Final Fantasy XIV short story that focuses on Fordola and Yda. Like previous short stories in the “Tales from the Twilight” series, it features a fair amount of spoilers. Specifically spoilers surrounding major plot twists in Final Fantasy XIV Heavensward and Final Fantasy XIV Stormblood. The short story has been uploaded to the Lodestone and is immediately available to read in Japanese and English.
As mentioned previously, this Final Fantasy XIV short story focuses on Yda and Fordola. The part of the timeline it takes place in is before the events of A Realm Reborn. Like other Final Fantasy XIV short stories, it elaborates on the background of both characters and how their destinies intertwined. Previous short stories in this series have featured Hien and Yugiri.
In an interview with Famitsu, Producer Naoki Yoshida shared insight as to why Fordola has remained a consistent cast member through the events of Final Fantasy XIV Shadowbringers. He talked in length about the discussion among the staff, and the conversation he had with Yasumi Matusno.
Final Fantasy XIV is immediately available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker will release on November 23, 2024. Those who have pre-ordered the expansion will have access on November 19, 2024.
