You might already know the answer if you were paying attention. Earlier in the area there was a clue in a painting that had the sequence but don’t worry about if you missed it. When you get to the rune puzzle you will see four colors. This is bait, you only need to use three of them and repeat one color.

First go with the yellow rune, next is blue, then red, then finish up with yellow again and a secret door will open nearby. Inside of here you will find a magical great sword that was used by crusaders of old and some other loot. The longsword has to be used by a paladin so you can give it to your NPC if you can’t use it yourself. If you aren’t interested in using it, it still sells for a good price and you can always use extra gold in this game.
