Atlus announced Inugami as the 11th demon in its Shin Megami Tensei V Daily Devil video series. It is the first demon in the Beast race to be featured. The company has been uploading regular videos featuring playable demons from the upcoming Switch JRPG.
In Japanese folklore, the Inugami are dog gods capable of possessing other entities. Though they can be loyal companions, they can also turn on their master. The protagonist of SMT V will have to watch his back if he befriends an Inugami.
The reveal trailer shows the long, good boys of the Beast race as primarily offensive with a bit of healing magic. The video confirms the demons will have skills like Fire Breath, Zionga, Pulinpa, and Dia. When attempting to recruit an Inugami in the video, it asks the SMT V protagonist if it smells. He responds it stinks like a beast, and the Inugami is very pleased.

Shin Megami Tensei V will release on Nintendo Switch worldwide on November 12, 2024, though Japan will get the game one day sooner. The demon hinted at in the end of the Inugami reveal trailer will be part of the Jaki race.
