Spider-Man: No Way Home: Release date, cast, tickets, and Netflix deals

Spider-Man: No Way Home is the latest entry in Marvel’s Spider-Man series, but this time around it seems to be about way more than our friendly neighborhood webslinger.

Marvel released the first trailer for the new movie at the end of August, giving fans a preview of the movie’s multiverse full of villains. But even after the trailer we still have plenty of questions about Marvel’s last movie of 2024. So to help you keep track of No Way Home’s massive cast, and end-of-the-year release date, here are the answers to a few of Spider-Man: No Way Home’s answerable questions:

When does Spider-Man: No Way Home come out?

Spider-Man: No Way Home is set to be released on Dec. 17. Of course, this release date is still subject to changes from Disney and Sony. The latter just delayed Venom: Let There Be Carnage until October 15, with rumors of a potential January 2024 release.

What’s Spider-Man: No Way Home about?

This movie picks up right after the events of Spider-Man: Far From Home’s post credits scene, when J. Jonah Jameson (J.K. Simmons) reveals that Spider-Man’s secret identity is Peter Parker. Unable to keep his superhero alter ego separate from the rest of his life, Peter seeks the help of Doctor Strange hoping there might be a magical way to reverse the reveal of his identity.

Doctor Strange gives it a shot and apparently tears at the fabric of reality, unleashing a multiverse full of chaos including villains from previous Spider-Man movies, including those that happened before the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Who’s in the Spider-Man: No Way Home cast?

Along with stars like Tom Holland, who is back to play Peter Parker, his friends Ned (Jacob Batalon), and MJ (Zendaya), with both return along with Betty Brant (Angourie Rice) and their teachers Mr. Dell (J.B. Smoove) and Mr. Harrington (Martin Starr). One regular cast member that hasn’t been confirmed yet is Happy (Jon Favreau).

As for the actors that will be new to the MCU … well, it’s unclear if anyone new shows up. We know for sure that Alfred Molina is back as Otto Octavius aka Doctor Octopus, last seen in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2 all the way back in 2004. We also have good hints that Willem Dafoe will reprise his role as the Green Goblin, Norman Osborn, from Raimi’s original Spider-Man movie, as well as Jamie Foxx who played Electro in Amazing Spider-Man 2. In true Marvel fashion, none of the cast were confirmed prior to shooting, or even the trailer.

Perhaps the most important remaining question for the movie is whether the cast will be joined by previous iterations of Spider-Man. One of the oldest rumors about this movie was that it would feature appearances from Tobey Maguire, the original live-action Peter Parker, and Andrew Garfield, who played Parker in the Amazing Spider-Man movie series. Unfortunately, we don’t have any confirmation that either of these other Spider-Men are going to be in No Way Home yet.

Will Spider-Man: No Way Home be released on Disney Plus?

Unlike Black Widow, Spider-Man: No Way Home will not be released on Disney Plus on the same day it comes out in theaters. Because the movie is a co-production between Disney’s Marvel Studios and Sony, it’s not clear when or where the movie will end up streaming (although Netflix and Disney both brokered deals to feature the studios movies on their respective platforms in the years to come). Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will be released on Sept. 3 and will arrive on Disney Plus 45 days later, but it’s not clear that Sony will agree to a similar plan for Spider-Man: No Way Home.

When do Spider-Man: No Way Home tickets go on sale?

Marvel and Disney haven’t announced an official date for ticket sales to start just yet, but we can take a guess based on previous Marvel movies. Tickets for Shang-Chi Legend of the Ten Rings went on sale on Aug. 16, about 18 days before the movie’s release date. If Marvel chooses the same kind of date for No Way Home then tickets would be available starting on Monday, Nov. 29. Of course, we’ll have to wait until the release of the movie is a little closer to know for sure when tickets will actually go on sale.
