Square Enix announces summer showcase for E3, new game reveals

Square Enix is heading to E3 in a big way, unveiling new details about their summer showcase, Square Enix Presents. The showcase will go live at 3:15 PM ET as a keynote during E3 this year. Fans of the publisher can expect a variety of new games and experiences from the event. Updates for previously announced projects and new titles altogether are headlining this fully virtual showcase.

Square Enix will cover four different games during the event. An update for Babylon’s Fall is appearing at the showcase this year. Square Enix and developer Platinum Games have kept us in the dark over this new title. Our last glimpse of information for this game was a brief gameplay trailer back in 2019. With two years under their belt, this update should bring some clarity over the state of the game.

In addition, information about an expansion for Marvel’s Avengers is announced for the showcase, titled Black Panther: War for Wakanda. A teaser for the expansion was released earlier this year, so fans can already catch a glimpse of what to expect.

Brand new titles on the way

For viewers excited for a brand new game, Square Enix will go into more detail on Life is Strange: True Colors, as well as provide a new glimpse into Life is Strange: Remastered Collection. Eidos–Montréal, a subsidiary of Square Enix and developer behind the Deus Ex franchise, will also be announcing a new game.

Absent from the list of announcements is the rumored Final Fantasy Origin, reportedly in development by Square Enix and Team Ninja. Despite rumors of the game’s potential unveiling during E3, it’s possible the Final Fantasy franchise is sitting this one out.
