Tetris Effect initially launched on PlayStation 4 with full PSVR support back in 2018, and it’s among the best versions of the classic Russian puzzler available. Combining the traditional line-clearing gameplay with a vivid audiovisual experience, the game is a delight, and has all kinds of interesting modes ensuring fans can enjoy it however they like. We were very excited when Enhance Games unveiled Tetris Effect: Connected, an expanded version with multiplayer modes, albeit with timed console exclusivity on Xbox systems.
Fortunately, the wait is now over. After a nine-month period locked to Microsoft machines, the Connected expansion is available today on PS4 (and PSVR) via a free game update. There are multiple new modes included that allow you to play competitively or cooperatively with fellow fans of falling blocks, and all you need to do is install the latest patch. What’s more, the update brings cross-platform play to the game, so you’ll be able to play Tetris Effect with a large pool of people.
Additionally, owners of the PS4 game — or those who buy Tetris Effect: Connected from PS Store between now and 18th September — are eligible to claim a free Digital Deluxe pack. This contains a seven-track soundtrack sampler, a pair of dynamic PS4 themes, and a set of Tetris-themed PSN avatars.
