The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles Gets an Exciting Story Trailer & Gameplay Footage Showing Off New Mechanics

News

The Great Ace Attorney has been out for the 3DS in Japan for years at this point, but it looks like Capcom is finally ready to bring the game to the west. At Capcom’s E3 presentation today, we got our first official look at the Switch port, and you can check out the trailer for yourself down below:

Set in 19th century Japan, we follow Ryuunosuke Naruhodou, Phoenix’s ancestor, who, of course, also happens to be an attorney. He travels to London soon afterwards and even gets to team up with Herlock Sholmes, a renowned detective in the region, and totally not based on another very well-known detective who’s had tons of mainstream pop culture based around him.

We also got to see some gameplay footage featuring two mechanics: Dance of Deduction and Summation Examination.

Herlock will present his own theories and logical deductions during the investigation phase of a case whenever something suspicious comes up, but there will always be flaws to look out for, and it’s up to Naruhodou to point them out and come to a more accurate conclusion. You do this by examining your surroundings or NPCs to look for clues to prove that Herlock isn’t entirely correct.

On the other hand, Summation Examination requires you to hear the jury members out as they give their statements and thoughts of what the verdict of the trial should be. You’ll need to examine their individual statements and find contradictions in their claims, similar to the cross-examination mechanic we’ve seen in past games.
