Ubisoft’s partnership with author Tom Clancy has seen the publisher release some of its best loved franchises. The name of the late American writer is a prefix on the likes of Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon, The Division, and Splinter Cell — all very well known series. A handful of rumours and a bucketload of hope have been fuelling the call for a new entry for the latter, but it looks like Ubi could be taking the Tom Clancy brand in a new direction.
Teased yesterday, the French publisher is set to reveal a new Tom Clancy game later today:
At 11am PDT / 2pm EDT / 7pm BST, we’ll get to find out what this new project is all about. While we can’t rule out the possibility that this could be the revival of Splinter Cell we’ve all been waiting for, it seems pretty clear from the video clip that this is something original. We won’t know more until later in the day, of course — we’re very curious to know what this game is, with its graffiti, ransom letter aesthetic.
Anyway, we’ll be watching along later at the aforementioned times and will bring you the news ASAP. What do you think this new Tom Clancy game will be? Are you excited to find out? Give us all your theories in the comments section below.
