Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance may not have been “A Hideo Kojima Game”, and it may not have been the tactical espionage action experience that the Metal Gear series built its identity around, but PlatinumGames’ action title was an excellent game nonetheless, and one that its fans still look back on fondly.
The game’s biggest hook, of course, was its fast paced slicing and dicing action, and for good reason – there’s nothing else quite like a good combat system made by Platinum – but true to the Metal Gear series, it also had a really engaging story. Not as heavily cinematic maybe, and definitely much sillier in tone (which is really saying something), but more than serviceable at what it set out to do. And here, we’re going to take a look at that story, as we recount its most major events from beginning to end.
