FIFA 21 added Kiyan Prince to the Queens Park Rangers roster

Kiyan Prince, a promising U.K. soccer player whose tragic murder 15 years ago shocked English football fans, is being remembered in FIFA 21 with a roster update this week.

Prince, also known as “The Bullet,” was a 15-year-old footballer who inspired many around him with his swift and skillful play. An EA Sports biography also described him as “always quick to stand up and support others.” On May 18, 2006, Prince was stabbed to death after intervening on behalf of a friend in an altercation outside their school.

Now, FIFA 21 will have him join the Queens Park Rangers, with whom he starred as a member of the team’s under-16 development club. Beginning Tuesday on PC and Wednesday for all other platforms, Kiyan Prince will appear in the QPR roster for both one-off games and the career suite.

Further, Ultimate Team players will be able to access themed unlock items by completing in-game objectives. These include a Kiyan Prince Foundation Kit, which is a uniform inspired by the ones QPR players wore in the 2004/2005 season, and an honorary tifo to celebrate Prince in the stands.

The Queens Park Rangers already have paid tribute to Prince in several ways, including renaming their home stadium (Loftus Road) the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium, after the foundation that his father, Dr. Mark Prince, established after his son’s murder.

Kiyan Prince’s likeness for FIFA 21 is a composite made from images of him when he was 15, and of his father when he was 30 years old. Similarly, EA Sports developers collaborated with Dr. Prince and used personal accounts from Kiyan’s coaches and teammates to help establish Prince’s ratings for the game.

“I want my son to be remembered not for the tragedy of his death, but for the triumph of his achievements.” Dr. Prince said in a statement. “Through this campaign, my hope is that the world finally gets to glimpse Kiyan’s incredible potential fulfilled.”
