Genshin Impact Version 2.1 Releases September 1st

Developer and publisher miHoyo have announced that Genshin Impact‘s Version 2.1 update “Floating World Under the Moonlight” will be releasing on September 1st

The update will add new content and gameplay to the newly introduced Inazuma area. This will add two more major islands, three new playable characters and a grand finale to the main story. Players will be able to gain a number of rewards through seasonal events to celebrate Genshin Impact’s first anniversary, as well as receive the first crossover character Aloy for free.

For version 2.1 players will be able to visit Watatsumi Island, home to the resistance forces, described as a “beautiful dreamlike” scape. There is also Seirai Island, a place of desolation shrouded in perpetual storms. Players will also encounter more boss enemies including the Hydro Hypostasis, Thunder Manifestation, and the new Trounce Domain Boss Signora.

New Playable Characters

A new update means new playable characters. The developer unveiled Raiden Shogun, Sangonomiya Kokomi, and Kujou Sara as upcoming characters. Story Quests for Raiden Shogun and Kokomi will also be available.

Raiden Shogun (Baal)

Raiden Shogun will be joining as a five-star Electro polearm user who can deal massive damage and provide helpful buffs to the team. The Shogun has appear before in previous Genshin Impact content also known as Baal.

Sangonomiya Kokomi

Sangonomiya Kokomi, the Divine Priestess of Watatsumi Island and leader of the resistance forces, will be joining as another five-star character. Wielding the power of Hydro and a catalyst, she can provide a great amount of healing to teammates.

Kujou Sara

The bold and decisive general of the Tenryou Commission loyal to the Shogun. She can deal solid Electro ranged attacks with her bow and provide buffs to her teammates.

New Seasonal Event – Moonchase Festival

During the festival, players will reunite with Keqing and Xiangling, cooking and tasting local foods and recipes, and explore the origins of this ancient traditional festival in Liyue Harbor. Those who’re fond of treasures will be glad to embark on a big treasure hunt across Liyue, Mondstadt, and Dragonspine in the Moonlight Seeker event.

By participating, players can get rewards and exchange for useful resources, including the new four-star claymore Luxurious Sea-Lord to max refinement. In addition, players may also claim in-game rewards and up to 10 Intertwined Fate in the new daily login event.

New Fishing Mechanic

A new method of fishing…well opposed to blast fishing which Klee is so fond of, now all characters will be able to fish across Teyvat. Fishing will gain players fish to produce fish meat or these can be exchanged for new fishing rods from the Fishing Association. With the Pool of Sapphire Grace, a new furnishing added to the Serenitea Pot system, players can also raise Ornamental Fish in their personal realm.

You can preview what fishing will like in this clip shared on the Genshin Impact official Japanese Twitter account:

New Free Five Star Character Aloy

As previously announced, Aloy from Horizon Zero Dawn will be coming to Genshin Impact as the first free five star crossover character in “Savior From Another World”. Players who have reached Adventure Rank 20 or above can receive her either during Version 2.1 on PlayStation® or during Version 2.2 on all platforms.

Aloy gets Cryo Vision when she first arrives in Teyvat, able to combine her frost ability with her masterful bow and arrive attacks.  Her Elemental Burst “Prophecies of Dawn” sees her throw a Power Cell filled with Cryo in the targeted direction, which she then detonates with an arrow, dealing AoE Cryo damage. Not only does her Elemental Skill “Frozen Wilds” and Talents buff herself and her teammates, they also debuff her opponents while dealing Cryo damage.

Cross-save Function

Also joining September 1st is the cross-save function which will allow players on Playstation, PC and mobile to continue their adventures. Players across all servers will also have their Double Crystal bonus reset with Version 2.1. The game is available for download on PS4 and PS5 from the PlayStation™Store, on Android from Google Play, on iOS from the App Store, and on PC from Epic Games Store or the Genshin Impact official website.
