While it’s rather disappointing that we’re unlikely to get a port of the original Monster Hunter Stories on Switch, even though there’s a smart device version that would potentially make porting easier, the likelihood is that sequel Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin should be equally fun for newcomers or veterans. Though throwback references are inevitable, the story that’s being laid out suggest it’ll be a solid standalone adventure.
Some of the title’s gameplay featured in April’s Monster Hunter Digital Event, and now Capcom has unleashed a rather nice story trailer to set the scene. As always the art style looks fantastic, and though these videos inevitably lean on PC footage we’re pretty confident it’ll still be a looker on Switch.
The story overview introduces some main characters, including the extremely cute Rathalos that is fated to bring ruin to the world; it’s still adorable though.
It arrives on 9th July so isn’t too far away; are you excited about Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin?
