Piepacker raises $3m in seed funding round

Investment to support the browser-based social retro gaming platform

Web browser-based gaming platform Piepacker has announced that it has raised $3 million dollars in a seed funding round.

The funds will support the company’s free to play, online social service dedicated to officially licensed retro games.

Along with its funding, Piepacker also raised $220,000 from its Kickstarter campaign.

“Our goal with Piepacker has always been to build the platform fans of retro gaming have been dreaming of,” said co-founder and CEO of Piepacker Benjamin Devienne.

“This is a service like no other, which has been reflected in how significantly we’ve been backed during our latest funding round and by our fans on Kickstarter.”

Piepacker was founded in 2019 by Devienne and chief technology officer Jules Testard.

An open beta of the service has launched and is offering players a selection of 61 retro games including Barkley Shut Up and Jam 2, Worms World Party, and Earthworm Jim.

Additionally, the company will be developing exclusively for the platform. It’s first game, Arsène Lupin: Gentleman Bomber, was released on May 22.
