Today Koei Tecmo announced its financial results for the first quarter of the fiscal year that will end on March 31, 2024.
We can take a look at the overall results below, alongside those by segment, with the Entertainment Business representing video games.
Interestingly, this quarter’s results mark the overall record for both sales and profits for a Q1 in Koei Tecmo’s history.
Among the driving factors of such positive results are the release of new games and strong catalog sales of games like Nioh 2: Complete Edition.
Speaking of new games, we learn that Samurai Warriors 5, which has been launched only in Japan (it releases tomorrow in the west) has shipped 280,000 copies as of June 30.
Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection, which already launched worldwide, achieved 240,000 shipments as of June 30.
Incidentally, the company has also increased its forecast both for sales and profits for the second quarter, respectively by 6.7% and 20%., despite the fact that there are no major game releases besides Samurai Warriors 5 in the west, so the profit structure is focused on catalog sales.
The full-year forecast has not been revised.
