The premiere date for the season 2 of The Witcher show has been confirmed for December 17 this year. Its release date was revealed earlier today during the season 2 panel opening up the first WitcherCon. There were expectations that the second season of the acclaimed series would premiere during the summer. However, that wouldn’t have given the production team much time, especially since filming only wrapped in April.
The Witcher‘s first season premiered on Netflix in December of 2019, blessing the world with Henry Cavill’s grumbling ‘hmm’s (and a live-action bathtub scene, because of course). During the WitcherCon livestream, the production crew, along with Ciri actor Freya Allan and Joey Batey, who plays Jaskier (aka Dandelion), was there via recording to answer, erm, ‘fan mail.’ It was mostly played off as a joke, with some playful ribbing of Geralt actor Cavill. Apparently, we’ll also see Jaskier wearing a hat in the second season, but for less than a minute.
For the most part, the crew didn’t reveal much on the upcoming season, beyond a glimpse of a Leshen’s gnarled hand. However, considering the series adapts the books, we know that season 2 will follow the third novel in the Witcher Saga, Blood of Elves. In this story, Geralt takes Ciri to the ancient Witcher stronghold, Kaer Morhen, for training. The season will include appearances by Geralt’s fellow witcher, Lambert (Paul Bullion), as well as their mentor/father figure Vesemir (Kim Bodnia).

Netflix has since revealed most of the episode titles ahead of The Witcher season 2 premiere. In a tweet, the company named seven of the eight episodes, starting with A Grain of Truth. Kaer Morhen, What is Lost, Redanian Intelligence, Turn Your Back, Dear Friend, and Voleth Meir, make up the rest of the names, with the final one left as “Top Secret.”
WitcherCon continues today. Be sure to head to Netflix or The Witcher YouTube page to give it a watch. There’s plenty in store, so check the schedule to know what’s on the way.
