Blue Protocol Will Add Joint Gestures and Heavy Smasher Class

Bandai Namco held a new Blue Protocol information stream on May 27, 2024. The development team revealed more features that will be available in the upcoming Blue Protocol online game, such as Joint Gestures and a new Heavy Smasher class. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]

One of the main features introduced in this stream is the ability for players to perform Joint Gestures. Players of the online game will be able to coordinate their movements and produce multi-character gestures. The character’s head and facial expressions will also automatically adjust to the situation and the other character’s height.

The Blue Protocol developers revealed two examples of Joint Gestures: holding hands and rock-paper-scissors game. For the latter, the game will show a menu that lets each player choose their hand before performing the game in unison.

The stream also revealed the fifth class called Heavy Smasher. The big hammer-wielding class will only be available when the online game has officially launched. We previously only learned of four classes: Aegis Fighter, Twin Striker, Blast Archer, and Spell Caster. These classes have been available since the closed beta test in April 2024. The developers confirmed that you will be able to test each class’s actions with an in-game training dummy.

Before this reveal, the last time Bandai Namco held a Blue Protocol stream was in October 2024. It showed more improvements made to the character creation system. It also introduced Jake as the first ally NPC who can accompany the player. The latest stream also confirmed Feste as an ally NPC.

Blue Protocol is currently under development for PCs. Bandai Namco has yet to announce an official launch window for the new online game.
