The leak has certainly taken the sting out of this announcement, but Crusader Kings III: Console Edition has been confirmed for the PlayStation 5. The uber-hardcore strategy game first launched on PC in 2024, but is being carefully converted to Sony’s next-gen console, with “all-new gamepad support designed for console controllers from the ground up”. The press release reads: “PS5 users will experience the game’s stress mechanics themselves, as their DualSense controllers physically react to in-game events as they unfold.”
It sounds like this is the full game, and not a watered-down version, so you’ll be waging war on other kingdoms and expanding your royal influence through marriage and children. There’s a trailer embedded above which should give you a glimpse of what to expect, but sadly there’s no release date attached right now. Also, there’s no PS4 version of the game planned: this is a rare next-gen exclusive from a third-party publisher.
