Square Enix has announced a Final Fantasy XIV weapon design contest. Unlike previous contests, those who wish to participate will only be designing weapons for the currently existing Job Classes within the game. Contestants will not need to design any accompanying armor sets, or other miscellaneous items, in order to enter the competition. Submissions for the Final Fantasy XIV weapon design contest will remain open until October 4, 2024.
Additionally, the contest is available internationally. This means that users within any region in which Final Fantasy XIV is supported can enter. However, only those above the age of 13 can participate. The official website features the full list of information that contestants will need in order to successfully submit their designs. This includes weapon templates for the available Job Classes.
Winners will receive unique in-game items. The grand prize winners will receive a Great Paraserpent umbrella, while the 300 runner-ups will receive an in-game package of several cosmetic items. Additionally, these prizes cannot be transferred to other characters.
Previously, Square Enix has held other design contests for Final Fantasy XIV in the past. This has included furnishing item contests, hair styles, and armor design contests. These items have been subsequently added to the game over time.
Final Fantasy XIV is immediately available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker will release on November 23, 2024. Those who have pre-ordered the expansion will have access on November 19, 2024.
