Japan: ‘Nintendo Gallery’ museum showing Nintendo’s development and history to open by March 2024

Thanks to an official Press Release over on Nintendo of Japan’s website, it’s been revealed that Nintendo is planning to open a museum for the public by March 2024. According to Nintendo President, Shuntaro Furukawa, “Uji Ogura Plant (Ogura-cho, Uji-city, Kyoto) and the land surrounding the building will be used as a new gallery to showcase the many products Nintendo has launched over its history”.

What’s interesting is that the building was originally built in 1969 and was used to manufacture both playing cards and Nintendo’s own famous Hanafuda cards, so the site has deep-rooted Nintendo history as it is; a perfect place to properly showcase the company’s development over the years and an absolute must-visit space for any fan who’s lucky enough to travel to Japan. Folk won’t have to wait too long as Nintendo seem confident that the project will be completed in the near future: “The facility, tentatively named “Nintendo Gallery”, where Nintendo’s historical products will be showcased, and exhibits and experiences will be available, is expected to be completed within our 2024 Fiscal Year, which ends in March 2024.”
