Digital Foundry published a new analysis video for No More Heroes 3 today, outlining the performance in terms of frame rate and resolution. While there’s a lot to appreciate about the game, it does appear that it has some technical struggles.
Below are the full highlights:
– 720p resolution docked
– Poor texture filtering, blurry textures
– 480p in portable mode
– Can see things like texture pop in
– Not much traffic and pedestrians in the open world
– Boss fights/missions/arcade stuff has uncapped frame rate, so it aims to hit 60 frames per second
– Can sometimes hit 60 in these instances, but is often below that
– Frame rate similar in portable mode
– Open world is capped at 30 FPS
– This cap results in bad frame pacing
– The actual frame rate also drops in the open world
– Loading pauses can also happen
– Primarily hovers around 24-20 FPS in the open world when docked
– Frame rate is worse in this area when playing in portable mode
You can watch Digital Foundry’s full No More Heroes 3 performance analysis below that further covers the frame rate and resolution.
No More Heroes 3 just launched for Switch on August 27. We have the launch trailer here and a good chunk of gameplay here.
