The Sandbox lets players recreate zombie adventures with The Walking Dead collaboration | Articles

The Sandbox is partnering with Skybound Entertainment to let players experience the world of The Walking Dead in the metaverse. In this virtual world, you can now create not just your own characters but also your own customizable adventures set in the zombie-infested lands of the popular IP.

The Walking Dead fans will be delighted to know that The Sandbox metaverse promises a highly engaging and totally interactive TWD experience, as you fight to survive in walker-infested habitat while you scavenge and gather resources with friends. You’ll build relationships or build walls depending on your play style, as well as interact with voxel versions of Rick Grimes and Michonne.

Because The Sandbox is, well, a sandbox, players can create assets to make their experience as authentic to the source material as possible. In this sense, the shared digital space becomes more immersive as players recreate game items, weapons, and equipment from The Walking Dead franchise. Of course, there will also be flaunt-it-if-you’ve-got-it assets that players can brag about in the digital gallery, because digital ownership is all-too-real inside the metaverse.

Speaking of ownership, users will also get the chance to own pieces of virtual real estate or LANDS near The Walking Dead’s spot in the virtual world map. “Bringing The Walking Dead comic book franchise to The Sandbox metaverse will offer fans a groundbreaking opportunity to play, create, socialize, inhabit and interact within a novel multiplayer gaming virtual world,” says Dan Murray, Co-CEO of Skybound Games & Merchandise. “It was important to us to offer a rich The Walking Dead experience in The Sandbox and leverage this first chance for players to create and share their own, user-generated new adventures featuring characters created by Robert Kirkman.”
