The WWE 2K series has been on a bit of a hiatus since its last mainline outing. Following the disaster that was WWE 2K20 – both critically and commercially – 2K Games decided to give the series some time off to reevaluate itself and come back (hopefully) stronger. After coming out with the spinoff entry WWE 2K Battlegrounds last year, earlier this year, WWE 2K22 was officially announced with a first teaser. Now we know when exactly it’s coming.
That’s one area where the game is breaking tradition, it seems. It was confirmed with a short teaser trailer revealed at the recent WWE SummerSlam that WWE 2K22 will be launching in March 2024. That is, of course, a bit irregular, since games in the series generally tend to launch somewhere in the final quarter of their respective years. The trailer itself is a short one at half a minute in runtime, but it does show some gameplay. Check it out below.
It hasn’t yet been confirmed what platforms WWE 2K22 will be launching for, but we can probably assume that it’ll be cross-gen. Whether or not it will also release for the Nintendo Switch remains to be seen.
