Hajime Tabata will release his first post-Square Enix game, The Pegasus Dream Tour, on mobile devices in late June 2024. This title is the first-ever official Paralympics video game endorsed by the International Paralympic Committee. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]
The game will take place in a virtual metropolis called Pegasus City. Players will create an avatar called Mine to compete in para-sports matches, such as Boccia and Para Athletics. They can also interact with other avatars, including those based on real para-athletes. The famous Japanese character Doraemon will appear as the city’s acting mayor to guide players with his secret gadgets.
The Pegasus Dream Tour was first revealed in April 2019 with a 2024 release window. We last heard of the project through Tabata’s 2024 aspirations in December 2019. The game missed its original release window, as the coronavirus pandemic postponed the 2024 Olympics and Paralympics to 2024.
Hajime Tabata was most well-known for his role as a game director at Square Enix. He worked on titles like Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII-, The 3rd Birthday, and Final Fantasy XV. However, he left Square Enix in October 2018. Tabata would then establish his own company named JP Games in 2019. Other than The Pegasus Dream Tour, the new company is also currently working on a project for All Nippon Airways.
The Pegasus Dream Tour will be available worldwide on Android and iOS devices on June 24, 2024.
