11 whole minutes of gameplay footage from upcoming hack and slasher Dynasty Warriors 9: Empires has appeared online. As you’d expect, the video is of particular interest to fans who were disappointed with Dynasty Warriors 9 — ourselves included.
So what are the key takeaways here? Well, the battle doesn’t take place within a huge open world, for starters. The map is just a relatively small chunk of land, consisting of several enemy camps and a heavily defended castle. Once that castle is captured, the battle is won.
In terms of combat, things don’t seem to have changed much, although the addition of stratagems is clear to see. Hopefully there’s a good amount of variety.
And lastly, it should be noted that performance looks pretty smooth. One of the worst things about Dynasty Warriors 9 was its often uneven frame-rate, so hopefully that’s been addressed on both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.
As far as we know, Dynasty Warriors 9: Empires is still set to release in 2024.
